KISSIMMEE, Fla. --
Officials with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said a worker died after an incident at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Friday.

Authorities said an electrician was injured while installing a stage around 10:30 a.m. at the Walt Disney World Resort property. The incident occurred near the facility's baseball fields, authorities told WESH 2 News.

The victim, who worked for Buena Vista Construction Company, was pronounced dead after arriving at Celebration Hospital. He was identified as Steven Snyder, 50, of Davenport.

Disney said Snyder was installing a temporary transformer to supply power to a tent that was under construction when the injury happened.

"Today we are grieving with his family, friends and coworkers and extend our deepest sympathy to them," Disney said in a statement.

"We are reaching out to his family to offer our support during this difficult time and we are working closely with authorities to gather facts," the company said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified about the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
