It's going to be a long summer for those that enjoy and miss Space Mountain, as it is closed for refurb, but rumors of what ay be coming may just make it worth the wait. Rumors have circulated for some time even before it went down for refurb earlier this year that ranged from removing the top of the mountain to replace the entire track system to upgrading the cars and soundtrack to become more like Disneyland Space Mountain to changes to the load area and everything in between. It now seems that there is more credibility coming to one of the rumors, and that’s about the queue. It seems that construction permits filed by Disney indicate that there will be an installation of an “interactive queue” and audio-visual upgrades. This is fueling the rumors that the Space Mountain queue may get enhancements and games much like that of Soarin’ in Epcot. Rumors that the attraction and load area will be darkened and that there may be enhancements coming to the unload area and speedramp seem likely as well. In fact, the D23 web site states that “New track, a new ceiling and audio-visual upgrades will be in store when Space Mountain re-opens on November 21 after a planned refurbishment.”
