Universal Orlando, which has been releasing information about the ``Wizarding World of Harry Potter'' one tiny bit at a time, says it will announce the attraction's opening date at noon on Thursday.
Universal previously said that the new feature would open in the spring at its Islands of Adventure park in Orlando, then narrowed that field a few weeks ago by unveiling package deals -- lodging and park admission -- that will be available starting May 28.
Wizarding World will be an area within the park with several rides and a themed retail area. The centerpiece will be Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a dark ride through Hogwarts Castle, some details of which are to be revealed Thursday. In addition, two existing rides are being redesigned to fit the Harry Potter story as the high-speed Dragon Challenge roller coaster and the Flying Unicorn, a junior coaster.
Hogsmeade Village will have businesses that fans will recognize from the books and movies, including Honeydukes, Hogs Head Pub, the Owlery and Ollivanders Wand Shop.
