The daily parking rate at the Walt Disney World theme parks will rise to $14 this weekend, according to Orlando Sentinel reporter Jason Garcia. The new rate will go into effect this Sunday, up from the current rate of $12 for automobiles.
The parking rate hike provides another reason for seasonal passholders to upgrade to an annual pass to Walt Disney World, since annual passholders receive complimentary parking.
Guests staying at Disney's resort hotels also receive complimentary parking, which should provide tourists with additional motivation to stay on Disney property.
Additionally, resort hotel guests have access to Disney World's transportation system, including bus, boat, and monorail service to all theme park, water park, shopping, and resort hotel locations in the Walt Disney World resort.
The $14 parking fee should help offset the costs of increased transportation services in the wake of July's fatal monorail crash. In response to the National Transportation Safety Board's ongoing investigation into the monorail collision, Disney World has augmented safety provisions and added additional monorail employees and supervision to ensure the safety of guests and cast members.
