Six things you must try during a night out at Disney Springs

01 May 2018

Walt Disney World isn’t exactly known for its nightlife, despite the hordes of millennial kids-at-heart flocking to the parks in Mickey ears every year.

Disney Springs is trying to change that. The Orlando complex’s new campaign, Late Night at Disney Springs, aims to show off late-night food and drink options at popular hangouts like STK, Morimoto Asia and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.

The menus aren’t new, but the outdoor shopping and dining complex formerly known as Downtown Disney is clearly eager to present itself as a prime destination for the night-owl crowd.

There are eight places in the Landing area of Disney Springs that stay open until 2 a.m. and have special menus to keep the party going or to fill you up before the next round.

Here are six things you must try during a night out at
Disney Springs.

The Edison cocktail at The Edison

A simple twist on a whiskey sour sees Woodford Reserve bourbon combined with pear brandy, lemon and honey. Not too sweet or sour, and it fits just right in the new restaurant’s gothic industrial atmosphere of Edison bulbs, metal piping and Flapper dancers.

Crispy chicken bites with sriracha honey at STK

Slightly sweet with a kick of flavorful heat. They get spicier the more you eat, but good luck leaving any behind. If you need some sweet to combat the spice, sip on the strawberry shortcake martini — smooth Belvedere vodka, muddled strawberries and
a graham cracker crust. So simple, yet so decadent.

Rosé All Day or Jock’s Old Fashioned at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

Get the Rosé All Day — Miraval Rosé, St. Augustine vodka, Domaine Canton ginger liqueur, peach syrup, lemon juice — as a thirst quencher in between shopping for Minnie ears and millennial pink spirit jerseys. Then dip back into the rustic hangout themed after the iconic pilot from Indiana Jones to cap the night with Jock’s version of an old fashioned: Knob Creek Disney Select 120 Proof Bourbon, Cointreau, aromatic bitters, orange bitters, simple syrup and soda water.

Beef bulgogi nachos at Morimoto Asia

The Forbidden Lounge upstairs at the popular restaurant puts Pan-Asian twists on classic late-night bar food and drinks. Instead of tortillas, the beef bulgogi nachos are made of wonton chips topped with sliced soy-marinated beef short ribs, gochujang sauce, jalapenos, cheese and scallions. Bring down the heat with a Bee’s Knee’s cocktail of Ketel One vodka, lavender honey, lemon juice, mint and yozu sorbet.

Fragola Mule at Enzo’s Hideaway

This Italian speakeasy does a sweet and simple twist on a Moscow Mule with the addition of fresh strawberry syrup. Combined with the traditional ginger beer, lime and Absolute Elyx vodka, the Fragola Mule is a refreshing palate cleanser in between bites of meatball sliders or a salumi and cheese platter.

Dub Schpuds at Raglan Road

There really isn’t a way to go wrong with a dish of herb roasted potato wedges paired with Smithwicks and Dubliner cheese dip. But Raglan Road is also a place of comfort and decadence, so it would make sense to have dessert here. The Dunbrody Kiss is described as "Chef Dundon’s gift to America. Chocolate, add more chocolate then add some more." Some alcoholic desserts include a blood orange bourbon, a Bailey’s and coffee milkshake and a chocolate-covered strawberry martini.
