LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Epcot’s first authentic Italian pizzeria will open on Aug. 5 at the Italy pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase.
The restaurant, called Via Napoli, will have numerous Neapolitan pizza options, including a traditional margherita, according to a Walt Disney World news release.
Dan Cockerell, vice president of Epcot, is excited about the new addition to the theme park.
“Via Napoli will certainly enhance the guest experience and the architectural landscape of World Showcase just in time for our 15th annual Epcot Food and Wine Festival,” said Cockerell in a news release.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, the most popular menu item is the wood-fired pizza, which comes in three sizes. The wood-burning ovens are named after the three volcanoes in Italy: Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius and Stromboli, according to a news release.
The menu will also cater to vegetarians, offering several vegetarian soups and pesto-based pastas.
Via Napoli was created by Nick Valenti, Patina Restaurant Group CEO, after many visits to southern Italy. The design of the pizzeria will reflect the restaurants he visited during his visits.
Charlie Restivo will be the executive chef at the pizzeria.
The Disney Parks Blog estimates that the average check per person is $23, and the blog said there is one menu for lunch and dinner.
Via Napoli will not make reservations for customers during the first month it is open. While guests can begin making reservations on Aug. 6, the reservations must be made for the date of Sept. 10 or anytime afterward.
