Disney Parks' Pandora: The World of Avatar is about to get an epic addition to the already awesome part of this themed attraction. A new video provides a sneak peek at the creation of the Pandora Utility Suit and features a man controlling an Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP) that is pretty close to the AMP suits shown in James Cameron's blockbuster hit Avatar. The human-controlled AMP suit walks through the Valley of Mo'ara, and it looks really cool.
The Pandora Utility Suit will be used to "study the wildlife, collect plant samples, and survive Pandora's terrain," in Disney World's Animal Kingdom. The behind-the-scenes featurette also reveals that something special will be coming to the Animal Kingdom in celebration of its 20th anniversary, which is in addition to the Pandora Utility Suit from Avatar. A major tease about the upcoming special event will be made public within the next few days, but just seeing the AMP suit in action is cool enough on its own.
Disney World's Pandora: The World of Avatar is about to get a lot better with the addition of the Pandora Utility Suit, which will feature a cast member, or Pandora Conservation Initiative (PCI) pilot, controlling the suit while giving park visitors information about their surroundings. The Utility Suit was created in partnership between Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney Parks Live Entertainment, Michael Curry Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. The suit will be available for guides later this month, on April 22nd. Sadly, visitors will not be allowed to pilot the Amplified Mobility Platform, and will have to leave it up to the professionals.
Pandora: The World of Avatar opened in May 2017 and has since become a very popular attraction at Disney World. The Avatar-themed world took over what used to be Camp Minnie-Mickey and is set a generation after the events of the Avatar movies. The area is based upon the fictional moon, Pandora, and features floating mountains, alien wildlife, and bioluminescent plants. This 'world' sits on 12 acres and includes two major attractions, Avatar Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey, as well as restaurants and merchandising areas.
The Pandora Utility Suit is definitely a game changer for the already advanced world of Pandora at Disney World. To add to the immersive experience, all ties to anything Disney, like Mickey's face on the Fast Pass or even Disney brand merchandise are not available in the park, to keep it as close to the Avatar experience as possible. Disney World's Pandora - The World of Avatar has been open for nearly a year now and fans of the park are excited to see what will be announced for the 20th anniversary of the Animal Kingdom. While Disney is keeping tight-lipped about the surprise, one can imagine that it'll be pretty epic. You can check out the behind-the-scenes video about the Pandora Utility Suit below, thanks to the Disney Parks YouTube channel.
