Though not as popular as they were in the “Year of a Million Dreams,” Magical Moments are still around at the Walt Disney World Resorts. If you have not been offered a Magical Moment, then you are just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Here are some of the most recent Magical Moments I have witnessed at the Walt Disney World Resorts and Theme Parks.
The Brown Derby selects one small guest to cut the red ribbon at the entrance to signify the “Grand Opening” of the restaurant. This is done daily before the Brown Derby opens. Check operating hours of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and plan to be near the entrance or better yet, dine at the Brown Derby when it first opens.
Another Magical Moment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is right in front of the Chinese Theater where the Great Movie Ride is located. There you see replicas of celebrities’ hand prints and you have probably tried to compare the size of you hand with those imprinted in the sidewalk. Well, when a Disney Cast Member spots a child comparing their hands to those in the sidewalks they create their very own hand print magic. Children who receive this Magical Moment will get a chance to make their own hand print with washable paint on a sheet of paper and will receive a special certificate.
Lake Patrol based out of the Fort Wilderness Marina offers a pontoon ride to a family leaving Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground over to the Magic Kingdom Park. Guests are given a faster ride than what Disney Watercraft can offer and they also get a chance to learn about the area firsthand from a Disney Lake Patrol Cast Member.
Disney’s Boardwalk Resort offers what is known as the Keister Koaster Kid of the day every morning when the slide opens. The first child in line for the slide when it opens will be dressed up in a colorful clown wig, large red nose and over-sized glasses, as they are the first to ride down the slide. The child is also given a Magical Moment certificate for his/her participation.
I know there are more Magical Moments around the Walt Disney World Resorts. Check back, because as I find them I will update.
